New Jewelry TOKYO is a much talked about jewelry festival that has attracted over 10,000 people over the course of three days in recent years, and the number of brands wishing to exhibit is increasing every year. For a new brand like Jewelry Wanderlust, we knew even before we applied that the selection process would be extremely tough.
The selection criteria for exhibiting brands are as follows:
I believed that "Jewellery Wanderlust fits these criteria," but when I looked at the brands that had exhibited in the past, most of them were so-called "designer brands" where the brand name was either named after the designer, or even if it wasn't, the designer was still prominently featured. I wondered if Jewellery Wanderlust really fit the criteria... and whether Hisa Nakajima Jewelry would have had a chance... but I prepared everything I could, including documents and photos, and went ahead and applied.
We were very fortunate to be selected as one of the exhibiting brands this time. Over 130 brands will be exhibiting this time, but unfortunately we heard that quite a few brands were not selected.
Exhibiting at New Jewelry TOKYO is very meaningful for Jewelry Wanderlust because, as its representative, it has been my consistent belief ever since the brand was founded that "if a brand is only ethical and lacks the essential design of jewelry, it fails as a jewelry brand."
The creator has been confident in his designs from the start of the brand right up to the present, and now that they have been accepted to exhibit, he feels as if he has received a third-party stamp of approval that "this is a brand that is not only ethical, but also has something to offer in terms of design."
